Safe Space Volunteer Training

We’re currently seeking compassionate, community-minded volunteers to join our Safe Space Team - a vital presence at Nanaimo Pride events that helps ensure every attendee experiences a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment.

Safe Space volunteers play an important role in upholding Nanaimo Pride’s Safe Space Policy by providing visible, compassionate support to event attendees who may need assistance. Safe Space volunteers are not security or enforcement. Their role is rooted in care, de-escalation, accessibility, and connection. If you have attended one of our events, you hopefully will have seen our Safe Space volunteers walking around in a pink vest. If you are interested in supporting the Nanaimo Pride Society as a Safe Space volunteer, registration is required. Please complete the RSVP form to attend our training event on Monday, February 23rd at the Nanaimo Museum.
