We’re currently seeking compassionate, community-minded volunteers to join our Safe Space Team and Sighted Guide Volunteers! This is a hybrid event, you may attend in person or online. Advance registration is required to attend.

About the event
We’re currently seeking compassionate, community-minded volunteers to join our Safe Space Team - a vital presence at Nanaimo Pride events that helps ensure every attendee experiences a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment.
Safe Space volunteers play an important role in upholding Nanaimo Pride’s Safe Space Policy by providing visible, compassionate support to event attendees who may need assistance. Safe Space volunteers are not security or enforcement. Their role is rooted in care, de-escalation, accessibility, and connection. If you have attended one of our events, you hopefully will have seen our Safe Space volunteers walking around in a pink vest.
This session also includes Sighted Guide training provided by Vocal Eye. Vocal Eye is providing described audio for our accessibility tents at the parade and festival this year and are providing training so our volunteers can learn how best to support people who are blind and partially sighted.
